I was wondering if i took a rented copy of MW3 uploaded it on to my xbox hard drive. Then put in my burnt copy would that be a safe way to play online?

I'm no pro but I've been playing a burnt copy online since the release of the game... Haven't had any problems yet either.

I honestly don't know if that would affect anything but I would probably recommend doing that. I heard that you should always install XGD3 to your HDD. I haven't yet but I will probably go to that after posting this lol.

Sorry if I wasn't any help lol.

It's the same as playing it burnt.

Once your xbox reads the disc it registers on LIVE no matter what.

So basically, either way it would be as safe just to play on the backup.

Currently, the only burners used are Liteon iHAS DVD burners flashed with iXtreme Burner Max firmware for burning XGD3 games. And the only discs used are Verbatim DVD+R DL (Manufactured in Singapore versions ONLY. Available at XConsoles.com) discs.
